Questions

How does BudgetBite keep my meal plan under budget?

You set a weekly grocery cap first. BudgetBite then picks dinners whose estimated ingredient cost, scaled to your household, fits under that cap, and shows a running total so you can see what is left before you shop.

Is BudgetBite free?

BudgetBite is free to download, and logging meals and setting calorie goals are free with no subscription. The full weekly plan, the complete grocery list, pantry mode, family scaling, cloud sync and photo calorie scans are part of BudgetBite Pro, billed through your Apple ID. You see the price for your country in the app before you pay, and you can cancel any time in your Apple ID settings.

Where do the meal prices come from?

Every ingredient carries an estimated cost for the amount the recipe uses, based on average US grocery prices (November 2026). Prices at your store will differ, and anything you already have at home can be marked in pantry mode so it drops off the list and the total.

Can I cook for my whole family?

Yes. Plans scale from 1 to 8 people, and the grocery list and costs scale with them. You can also choose 5 or 7 dinners a week.

Does BudgetBite handle allergies and diets?

You can exclude allergens and ingredients you avoid, and every dinner and grocery list in your plan respects them. Always check labels yourself when an allergy is serious.

Can BudgetBite plan around my air fryer or slow cooker?

Yes. When you set up the app, you tap the appliances in your kitchen, such as an oven, stovetop, microwave, air fryer, slow cooker, Instant Pot or grill, and BudgetBite only plans dinners you can make with them.

Does BudgetBite count calories?

Each dinner shows estimated calories, protein, carbs and fat per serving, computed from USDA FoodData Central. You can log any meal or snack and track your day against your own goals.

Is there an Android version?

Not yet. BudgetBite is available for iPhone on the App Store.

I used Mealime. Can BudgetBite replace it?

Mealime shut down on October 21, 2026. If you want weekly dinners and a merged grocery list, BudgetBite does both and adds a budget cap and a price on every dinner. See our Mealime alternative page for a side-by-side.
